Who are the Top OPT/CPT Employers? (USCIS Jan. 28, 2020)
On January 28th, 2020, the USCIS published The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Report. This report provided some interesting data on the demographics and academics of international students, as well as valuable information on their employment under the OPT and CPT programs.
A quick highlight on the OPT and CPT employment numbers, 2018 vs. 2017
A Comparison of the OPT/STEM OPT/CPT Numbers (2018 vs. 2017)
· The percentage of STEM OPT employment increase is not a surprise, but it also implies a sharp decline of about -14% of non-STEM OPT students
· While technology companies lead the number of OPT and CPT hires, consulting, financial services, higher education, and traditional staffing firms that serve a wide range of companies (i.e., Robert Half, Randstad, etc.) continue to provide sizable employment opportunities for international students
· We expect the USCIS to continue to scrutinize companies such as “Sinocontech” which is considered a fraud by the U.S. government
